Duties and Responsibilities:

1.
Promote safe work practices and procedures by:
a)   advising members on said safety practices and procedures
b)   advising members of BC Hydro policy and monitoring members' compliance with such policy
c)   liaise with BC Hydro safety authorities and represent the Association at safety meetings
d)   advising members on rescue and emergency procedures
e)   monitoring members' safety committee activities and providing advice and training
f)    identifying potential causes of accidents and recommending remedial action
2. Conduct and report on member safety audits and recommend needed safety programs and training
3. Provide assistance to the Business Manager in meeting safety responsibilities by providing for training of LCA members and workers and workers in al aspects of safety and safety administration
4. Provide updated records indicating training programs, list of participants, and safety audits, as well as a file of disabilities and their rehabilitation per the WCB
5. Assist Business Manager in responding to safety and health liaisons with BC Hydro, the WCB, IBEW Locals, and/or other regulatory bodies
6. Assist Business Manager to relate safety services to members; may help accident investigations and prepare accident reports
7. Assist Business Manager in initiating safety promotional activities such as bulletins, posters, and regulations
8. Assist Business Manager in organizing and/or coordinating safety programs, practices, and procedures
9. Assist Business Manager in analyzing job-site practices and initiating work stoppages
10. In event of observing dangerous work practices, will have the authority to initiate immediate work stoppage. Serious violation reported to contractor
11. Documenting all meetings, inspections, and training to LCA office.
